Some Good news

Lucy continues to just cruise along and shock us with her progress every day.  It's pretty amazing that such a little girl fights so hard!  We are very proud of her!  :)

We went yesterday at noon so that we could give her a tub bath.  She had already had a couple, but we missed them so we made a point to tell them to wait until we were there yesterday.  When we walked in to our shock she no longer had her nasal cannula.  She is now breathing completely on her own.  It takes about 24 hours or so to make sure she will do well, but 12 hours in she was doing great!  I will see her in a just a little bit and I am hoping everything is still going great with that.  We sure like seeing her little sweet face with most everything gone.

Another big surprise yesterday was that Mason and Lucy got to meet for the first time.  Mason was SO excited to see her and when we opened the door he smiled, but then froze up.  He was in complete shock I think.  I am sure it made it real for him that he really is a big brother!  He just stared at her and had no words and said he was tired.  That is usually what he says when he is just completely overwhelmed in a situation.  We didn't get great pictures, but it was a sweet moment. :)

So, yesterday was a good day!

Her follow-up amino acid test for the PKU came back normal range.  So, it appears her very first newborn screen was just kind of a freak thing.  Her doctor said in his 20 years he has never seen that happen.  All I can say is Thank you God for your miracles and answered prayers.

She will have her 3rd brain scan this morning.  Hoping for good news there!  Her 2nd eye exam will be next week.

Pretty much from here on out we will be practicing taking a bottle.  Once she gets that down (and it will be a while) we will be able to bring her home.

Thank you all for your continued good thoughts and prayers for us and Lucy.  I feel them everyday and it makes our day so much easier.

Prayer Requests:
-Brain scan to come back with bleed GONE or smaller
-Eye exam to show improvement with vessesls.  That they have not stopped growing or gotten worse.
-That Lucy will do well without her cannula
-That she will start doing well with her bottle feedings.  Right now they are just introducing it to her and do not expect her to do anything but get used to the taste of milk and feel of a bottle.  She will have to learn how to suck and swallow at the same time all while remembering to breath (something a full term baby knows to do, but not a pre-term)
-For all of the sick babies and preemie babies and families in the NICU.  I talked to one mom yesterday and they have been there for 106 days.
-For the amazing doctors and nurses.  This week is nurses week...if you have a favorite nurse, let them know.

Now for pictures.  I know that is what several people wait on, so I am sorry if there are a lot!  HA  And they are out of order, but I am too lazy to fix it right now!  :)

 No nasal cannula!!  :)

Not a fan of bath time! She liked it better when I washed her hair
She liked to be dried off too!
Meeting big brother.  We were supposed to do it through a window...we may have broken the rules a little but I stayed back a few feet

Mason's face.  he didnt know what to think!!
Waving bye and smiling at his sister!
